Postdoc Position on Experimental Nuclear Physics at Institute of Modern Physics
The Superheavy Nuclide and Nuclear Structure Group at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), CAS is seeking an excellent candidate for a postdoctoral fellowship position in experimental nuclear physics. The selected candidate will work in the gamma spectroscopy team to operate and upgrade an experimental platform for nuclear structure and reaction studies, as well as to analyze the data, mainly on nuclear reaction mechanisms. The host group is also actively involved in other world's leading projects like KISS@KEK, HISPEC/DESPEC@GSI/FAIR, and CAITEN@RIKEN, providing an outstanding scientific environment to develop an experimental nuclear physics career.

The appointment is initially for one year with the possibility of an extension for up to two additional years. The expected applicants should have a Ph.D. degree within the past five years, in experimental nuclear physics. Interested ones with postdoctoral experiences are preferred. Once enrolled and capability justified, the host group would also help/support additional application for other talents programs, such as The CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI), Exchange Fellowship funded by Office of China Postdoc Council (OCPC), as well as grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), etc..
Applicants are required to have experience/interest in handling HPGe detectors, Scintilator detectors such as LaBr3, and in performing gamma-ray spectroscopy experiments. Good grasp of programing skill (like C++, Python), ROOT, and other dedicated software for gamma-ray spectroscopy data analysis is also required. Excellent communication and superior writing skills are strongly preferred.
Interested candidates are suggested to send a CV and a cover letter briefly describing their lab work experience/skills and scientific output to Dr. Li (ligs@impcas.ac.cn).
Review of the applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
