Low Energy Particle Beam Application Group
Brief Introduction
The Low Energy Particle Beam Application Group is affiliated with the Low Energy Particle Beam Technology Center at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its primary research encompasses two main directions. The first is the acceleration and manipulation of low-energy, high-intensity ion beams for large-scale scientific facilities. To address the bottlenecks in beam intensity enhancement for facilities such as HIAF, the group conducts research on multi-source beam combination schemes and injector upgrades, focusing on achieving breakthroughs in key technologies like beam matching and emittance control to elevate overall operational efficiency. The second direction focuses on ion beam applications addressing major national needs. In the semiconductor sector, leveraging its expertise in high-charge-state ion sources and RF accelerators, the group collaborates with leading enterprises to tackle core technologies for high-energy ion implanters. Concurrently, it serves the quantum computing field by developing purification technologies for high-abundance stable isotopes, providing critical material support for the realization of qubits with high coherence times.
