The Control and Network Group is mainly responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of the control of the Heavy Ion Research Facility at Lanzhou(HIRFL). It mainly carries out research work in the fields of control system architecture design, control integration technology, software design, accelerator equipment control hardware design, data analysis and processing, high-precision timing system technology, accelerator control network design, accelerator database design and intelligent control technology.
There are 22 current scientific and technical personnel, including 12 senior engineers and 10 engineers. There are 4 graduate students. Its predecessor, the Information Engineering Group, participated in the construction of the cooling storage ring of the Heavy Ion Research Facility at Lanzhou (HIRFL-CSR), and was responsible for the design and construction of the accelerator control system, which guaranteed the identification and acceptance of the HIRFL-CSR in 2008. Through this project, it has trained and cultivated a group of technicians in accelerator control technology. Since its inception, it has trained a number of doctors and masters active in domestic and foreign accelerators and related research.
The Control and Network Group has undertaken and participated in the national 973 project, the Chinese Academy of Sciences major subjects, the National Natural Science Foundation and many other scientific research tasks. The group leads or takes charge in control system pre-research, design and construction work of a number of accelerator devices , such as Lanzhou heavy ion research device separation fan cyclotron linear injectors, heavy ion cancer treatment special device (HIMM) and High Intensity Heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF), Space Environment Simulation and Research Infrastructure (SESRI) and Proton Radiation Effects Facility (PREF), etc.
In addition, the Control and Network Group has established in-depth cooperation with the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute(SARI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung (GSI), and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN).
Accelerator control system design, control integration technology, software design (including device driver, IOC development, application layer software design, user interface design), accelerator device control hardware design (FPGA-based complex logic hardware design, ARM-based networked hardware design, high-precision DAC/ADC design), data analysis and processing (big data technology, cloud technology), high-precision timing system technology (White Rabbit-based timing technology), accelerator control network design (network construction, network applications), accelerator database design (relational and non-relational databases, data management technology), intelligent control technology (machine learning, artificial intelligence, virtualization technology), etc.
In the last five years, the group has published 1 SCI article, 12 articles in EI，18 articles in Chinese core journals, and obtained 6 patents.
