Seminar: Measurement of R Value at BESIII

Title: Measurement of R Value at BESIII

Speaker: Dr. WANG Weiping (USTC)

Time: 15:00pm, Jan.16 (Thursday), 2020

Place: Room911, Building 5

Abstract:

The R ratio, which is defined as the lowest order of inclusive hadronic cross section in units of the lowest order di-muon cross section, is of fundamental importance in precision test of the Standard Model and QCD. Improvement of the precision of measured R values will efficiently increase the accuracy of the QED running coupling constant evaluated at the Z pole and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, i.e. the g-2. Based on high luminosity scan data collected by BESIII detector, we are allowed to measure the R values with unprecedented precision.
