Abstract:
Heavy flavor quarks are suggested as excellent probes to study the strongly interacting Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) discovered in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. Due to their large masses, charm and beauty quarks are produced dominantly during initial hard partonic scatterings, and thus experience the entire evolution of the QGP. Measurements of heavy flavor production have advanced our understanding of the properties of the QGP.
In this talk, the measured open charm and beauty via the semi-leptonic decay electrons in Au+Au collisions at = 200 GeV from the STAR experiment will be shown. The latest measured nuclear modification factor of inclusive J/ψ will be shown as a function of centrality and pT in Pb+Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV from the ALICE experiment. The new analysis performed on high statistics data which were taken in 2018. The status of the analysis aiming at disentangling prompt and non-prompt J/ψ will also be discussed.
