Prof. DUAN Jinglai, a researcher from the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was elected the new president of the International Nuclear Track Society (INTS) on August 27.

As a key international academic organization in the field of nuclear track and radiation measurement, INTS elected its new leadership during the 29th International Conference on Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements (ICNTRM) , held at Kobe University, Japan.

Prof. DUAN has long been engaged in research on radiation effects on materials and their related applications. He has published over 100 academic papers and achieved a series of innovative results in ion-track fundamental research and its interdisciplinary applications.

In his inaugural address at the INTS general assembly, Prof. DUAN expressed his commitment to working with all members to further advance nuclear-track science and technology and strengthen international academic cooperation, thereby contributing to both fundamental scientific frontiers and major practical applications.

ICNTRM is one of the most influential conferences in the field of nuclear tracks and radiation detection, with its first session dating back to 1957. The 29th conference covered a broad spectrum of topics, including space radiation, nuclear physics and chemistry, neutron dosimetry, heavy ions, radiation biology, geological dating, laser-driven particle acceleration, and track nanotechnology. The event served as a vital platform for scholars worldwide to share and exchange cutting-edge advancements in nuclear-track and ionizing-radiation science and technology.
