7th International Conference on Chemistry and Physics of Transactinide Elements Held in Huizhou

The 7th international conference on the chemistry and physics of transactinide elements (TAN 23) was held from November 12 to 17 in Huizhou, China.
The conference was organized by the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences,  and the Advanced Energy Science and Technology Guangdong Laboratory.
Themed on “Chemical and Physical Experimental Research on Transactinide Elements”, the conference was aimed to boost the research of the synthesis of superheavy elements and their chemical properties, and to enhance international cooperation in this field.
The conference welcomed more than 100 experts and scholars from over 20 reputable institutions from all over the world, among which 69 experts delivered academic reports, discussing the latest achievements in the research of superheavy elements in such aspects as nuclear physics, chemical experiment and theoretical calculation.
As the first international conference on superheavy elements held in China, it advanced academic exchanges between China and other countries in this field, and laid a sound foundation for international cooperation on the research of superheavy nuclides on the China Accelerator Facility for Superheavy Elements (CAFE) and the High Intensity heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF).
The first TAN conference took place in 1999 in Seeheim near Darmstadt, Germany. Since then, the meetings of this series have been organized every 4 years. The 8th TAN conference will be held in Switzerland in 2027.
