As a member institution of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) Graduate Education System, the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) has been admitting international students since 2011. All students admitted to IMP will also be admitted to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). Upon completion of all studies, students are awarded a degree by UCAS.

IMP offers PhD and MSc programs in the fields of Physics, Nuclear Science and Technology, and Biophysics. Master's programs are also offered in Electronics and Information Engineering, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, and Biology and Medicine. Starting from 2020, IMP offers a PhD program in Materials and Chemical Engineering.
