Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at the Institute of Modern Physics
The Radioactive Ion Beam Physics Group at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in experimental nuclear physics.
Position Overview
As a postdoctoral researcher, the main responsibilities will include analyzing gamma spectroscopy data using state-of-the-art detector arrays from leading global laboratories, such as AGATA@Legnaro and JUROGAM@JYFL. Currently, several experiments are either completed or scheduled, and the postdoc will be responsible for analyzing data and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, the postdoc will collaborate with group members to develop a large-scale silicon detector array and other detectors, which will be used in a series of transfer reaction experiments utilizing radioactive ion beams. The position is initially offered for one year, with the possibility of an extension for up to two additional years, based on performance.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics is required.
- Experience or strong interest in analyzing gamma-ray spectroscopy data.
- Experience with radioactive ion beam experiments is desirable.
- Experience with DSSD and scintillator detectors is preferred.
- Good knowledge of coding (e.g., ROOT, C++) and proficiency with specialized tools for gamma-ray spectroscopy data analysis is essential.
Additional Support:
Once enrolled, the postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to apply for additional talent programs, such as:
- The CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative.
- The Exchange Fellowship funded by the Office of China Postdoc Council.
- Grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, among others.
The host group will offer strong support for these additional applications.
Application Instructions
Interested applicants are invited to submit their CV, along with a cover letter briefly describing their experience/skills to Dr. Lv (lvbingfeng@impcas.ac.cn).
The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
