1st Italian/Chinese Bilateral Workshop on COSMICRAD Held at IMP

On September 4-5, the 1st Italian/Chinese Bilateral Workshop on COSMICRAD was held at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP) in Lanzhou.

The four themes and topics discussed during the workshop are following:Recent progress of space radiobiology with heavy ions; Progress of in vivo mechanisms of neutron radiation effects; Perspectives on microRNA profiling as novel countermeasure tool; Frontier topics on internal diamond dosimetry and interdisciplinary research. Therefore, the research guidelines is laid out to facilitate bilateral collaboration on the research about long term human permanence in deep space.

About 30 researchers from both China and Italy attended the two-day’s workshop. The director of IMP, Dr. Guoqing Xiao delivered the opening speech and introduced the IMP to all the participants, followed by signings of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Carmela Marino from the ENEA and Dr. Emanuele Pace, the representative of the University of Florence respectively.

COSMICRAD is the abbreviation of cosmic rays and radio-biology in a China-Italy network strategy.
