Progress in Fabrication of Simulated Ceramic Nuclear Fuel Spheres

Under the cooperation between PSI and IMP, the chemical kinetics of the internal gelation process was systematically investigated, and it indicated that the process can be accomplished quickly by adjusting the composition of the feed solution. Therefore, an improved internal gelation process, which combined the in-situ instant mixing of room-temperature precursor solutions with microwave-assist...The closed nuclear fuel cycle has important strategic significance for the sustainable development of nuclear energy. The reutilization of spent fuel is the most important step of the closed nuclea...

Fixing the Primordial Lithium Problem in Big Bang Nucleosynthesis

Recently, an international nuclear astrophysical team led by Suqing Hou (Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) and Jianjun He (Institute of Modern Physics & National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences), proposed an elegant solution to this problem by introducing non-extensive statistics. The authors show that using a slightly modified version of the clas...Big Bang is regarded as the most successful model to describe the origination and evolution of universe currently. The model describes how the universe expanded from a very high density and high te...

Discovery of the New Isotope 219Np

Recently the researchers from IMP(Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) reported the discovery of a new isotope 219Np, which was produced via the fusion reaction 187Re(36Ar,4n)219Np at the gas-filled recoil separator SHANS (Spectrometer for Heavy Atoms and Nuclear Structure) at the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL). Recently the researchers from IMP(Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) reported the discovery of a new isotope 219Np, which was produced via the fusion reaction 187Re(36Ar,4n)...

New Short-lived Isotope 223Np was Identified

New short-lived isotope 223Np was discovered at the SHANS gas-filled separator in IMP.
