By the way of cellular and special animal irradiation experiments, to obtain the basic data which are necessary for heavy-ion radiotherapy of the cancers, such as the radiobiological differential effects, and consequently prescribe doses needed at the tumors and the normal tissues at risk (side effects), including: 

DNA double strand break and repair mechanism induced by heavy ion irradiation; 

Different mechanisms of tumor cells in radiosensitive and radioresistant to heavy ions; 

Risk assessment of low dose heavy ion exposure to normal cells, and protection study of heavy ion irradiation damages; 

Mitochondrion genomic instability and mtDNA depletioninduced by heavy ion irradiation; 

The role of ROS produced by NADPH oxidase in the mechanism of heavy ion kills the cancer cells; 

Experimental heavy ion radiation treatment of tumor-bearing animals;

To carry out clinical trial of heavy-ion cancer therapy and obtain the treatment experience and consummate treatment condition,basing on the reliable foundation from tracing observation and follow-up survey.
