IMP Hosted International Workshop on Frontiers in Atomic Physics, Plasma physics, and Nuclear Sciences
The workshop on Frontiers in Relativistic Atomic Physics and Applications in Plasma and Nuclear Sciences was held at Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP-CAS) from October 10 to 11, 2012. It is one of the Series Workshops for Celebration of the IMP 55th Anniversary.
This workshop was hosted by the Dynamics of Atomic and molecular Group, Plasma Physics Group and the IMP group of CAS Youth Innovation Promotion Association.
During the workshop, the progresses on atomic physics with highly charged ions, high energy density physics, the future large accelerator facilities, and the key points of scientific plans were presented. The novel instrumentation and accelerator design related to these fields at the future accelerator facilites of FAIR and HIAF were discussed.
The workshop has advanced and intensified the international cooperation of scientific research on atomic physics with relativistic highly charged ion, and its applications on plasma physics and nuclear physics with current facility of HIRFL-CSR and the future facility of HIAF.
The participants are from the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (GSI)、Helmholtz Institute of Jena、TU-Darmstadt、HIFVNL-Berkeley、University of Castilla、Goethe Universit？t Frankfurt and Mianyang、 USTC、NWNU、IMP, about 2/3 of the participants are young scientists and Ph.D.students.
