Prof. Hoffmann from TU-Darmstadt Appointed CAS Visiting Professor
On July 13, 2012, Prof. D. H. H. Hoffmann was awarded the Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientist of Chinese Academy of Sciences in the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP-CAS).
Prof. Hoffmann is now a full Professor of Physics in Institute of Nuclear Physics, Technical University Darmstadt and Head of Radiation and Nuclear Physics Department. He was the Head of Plasma Physics Dept., GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (GSI) in Darmstadt Germany and Member of the extended board of directors at GSI-Darmstadt from 1998 to 2007. Since 2003 he is the Editor-in-Chief of Laser and Particle Beams, Cambridge Univ. Press. Prof. Hoffmann has been working in the field of high energy density physics for a long time. He will collaborate on this subject with Prof. Yongtao Zhao at the IMP.
The Visiting Professorship for Senior International Scientist of CAS is the CAS’s top recognition for outstanding cooperative work. The award was created in 2009 honoring the foreign scientists’ exceptional scholarly merit with a primary emphasis on the collaboration with their Chinese partners to advance the research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
