Spectroscopy of Atoms and Molecules Group

Spectroscopy of Atoms and Molecules (SAM) group was formed in 2012 by adjusting the previous Atomic Physics group II. The group has 18 members including 12 fellows and 6 graduate students at present. The research in SAM is centered at the interactions of ions with atom and surface, the collision processes of electron-ion and electron-surface as well as the fundamental aspects of the structure and reaction dynamics of atoms and molecules both by experimental and theoretical.

Research Filed:

1.  The collisions of highly charged ions with atoms. The electron capture, ionization and transfer ionization between HCI-atom collisions are studied by measuring the position spectra of the scattered particle and the TOF spectra of the recoil ions;

2.  The guiding effect of the charged ions (including highly charged ions and electrons) through different single capillaries;

3.  The collisions of highly charged ions with solid surface by measuring the emitted photon and the energy spectra of the sputtered ions;

4.  Studies of the high precision X-ray spectroscopy in the internal target section in heavy ion storage ring CSRe;

5.  The theoretical studies of the dissociative recombination of molecular ions.
