Information Engineering Group
Information engineering group is mainly responsible for the control of Heavy Ion Research Facility at Lanzhou, as well as the operation, maintenance, improvement and study of the data acquisition system. The construction and maintenance of the network system of IMP are also in the charge of the information engineering group. The group has a staff of over 30, including 4 professors, 2 associate professors, and 19 intermediate title holders.
The main research fields of the group are as follows: accelerator control system, nuclear physics data acquisition system and its related cluster server and network technology, and the nuclear electronics research. The group has finished the construction of the control systems for national key scientific projects like heavy ion accelerator and cooling storage ring (CSR). The realization of the high performance network digital control system has ensured the successful operation of the large scale scientific experimental facility.
The researches in the front end circuit of the particle physics and nuclear physics experimental system, the front end read-out circuit of the new type array detector, the detecting method, processing technology, and measurement circuit for weak signals, and the study of various applied circuit and system in related fields have been performed. A series of high accuracy circuit have been applied in beam monitoring and physics experiments. The establishment of the clustered network database system has provided shared data for the storage, exchange and calculation of the scientific research data at IMP.
The information engineering group is in charge of tasks for the heavy ion cancer therapy research facility which is a high-tech project beneficial to the people. The construction of control systems for shallow tumor and deep tumor therapy facilities has been finished. Currently, the group is undertaking the study and design of medical heavy ion accelerator control system.
Group Leader：Weimin QIAO，professor，supervisor of PhD candidates. Professor Qiao graduated from Northwest Institute of Telecommunication Engineering in 1982. The main research fields of Professor Qiao are as follows: accelerator control system, nuclear physics data acquisition system and its related cluster server and network technology, software calculation method and program technology, large-scale database technology, DSP technology，and large scale spot-programmable integrated circuit technology .
