CAS Key Laboratory Founded at IMP
The CAS Key Laboratory of Heavy Ion Radiation Biomedicinewas officially founded in IMP at the end of 2009. The major areas of interest of the CAS Key Lab are as follows: the study on radiobiological effects of heavy ion beams, pathogenesis study, clinical study, treatment plan, and the study on the distribution and monitoring system of heavy ion beams.
As the first CAS Key Laboratory at IMP, the lab is in charge of several scientific projects, such as the State 973Program, 863 Program, the key program of NSFC, the Key Projects of Knowledge Innovation Program at CAS, and the key projects of Gansu Provincial Science & Technology Department. The lab is expected to push forward the S&T innovation and to develop into the State Key Laboratory or the National Engineering Laboratory within 3 or 5 years. The lab will make significant contributions to the heavy ion cancer therapy in China.
