Fermentation Pilot Production Line Established at IMP
With the support from CAS Action-Plan for West Development and Academy-Locality Cooperation Project of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the fermentation pilot production line was established successfully in Baiyin High-tech Industry Park by researchers of the biophysics laboratory at IMP(Institute of Modern Physics),CAS. The successful test of fermentation pilot production line on January 7, 2010 produced the products of yeast and β-glucan from the sweet sorghum’s stalk juice.
The fermentation pilot production line adopts the national leading RTY-MZ100L-1000L secondary fermentation technology. The tank is made of the SUS304 stainless steel, with the fine polishing accuracy of internal and external surface coming to Ra ≤ 0.8μm. 3-stage high efficiency filters are used for the air filtration and the filter fineness has reached 99.9999%. The computer-based online detection and automatic control for the dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature and the bubble during the process of microbial fermentation have been achieved. The pilot production line has great capacity of performing most of the microbial fermentation pilot production.
With the construction and operation of the fermentation pilot production line, a technical service platform has been built for the transfer of research results into industrial production. The pilot production line will boost the development of sweet sorghum-based industries, and promote the regional economic development around Lanzhou, the capital city of Gansu Province, China.
