Prof. Nasser Kalantar from KVI visits IMP to Push Forward Bilateral Cooperation

  Prof. Nasser Kalantar from the Kernfysisch Versneller Instituut(KVI) at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands visited the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP, CAS) on June 1-2,2010.

  Prof. Nasser Kalantar is an experimental nuclear physicist at KVI, University of Groningen. He is also the spokesperson and project manager of the EXL Group within FAIR-NUSTAR Project.

  During his visit, Prof. Nasser Kalantar presented an excellent lecture on the EXL experiment at FAIR, where the physics and detector design considerations for EXL were shown in detail. He also had discussions on the subjects of mutual interest with scientific researchers of IMP.  

  The visit of Netherlandish scientist will push forward the cooperation between KVI and IMP.  

  More Information about Prof. Nasser Kalantar:

  Prof. Nasser Kalantar received his Ph.D. degree in physics in 1986 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in USA. He did his postdoctoral research at Nikhef, the National Institute for Sub­atomic Physics in the Netherlands from 1986 to 1989. From 1989 to 1993, he conducted subatomic physics research at VU University Amsterdam in the Netherlands. In 1993, he became a researcher at Kern­fysisch Versneller Instituut (KVI), Groningen in the Netherlands, and was promoted to an associate professor of experimental nuclear physics at the KVI in 2003. He became a Professor of Experimental Nuclear Physics at the KVI in 2008.
