A charmed baryon with mass m=2939.8±1.3(stat)±1.0(syst) MeV and width Γ=17.5±5.2(stat)±5.9(syst) MeV is first observed in the D0p invariant mass spectrum by the BaBar Collaboration and hence assigned as a Λc state, which is confirmed by the Belle Collaboration.

At present, the structure of Λc(2940) is still unclear, and the current information of Λc(2940) is extracted in the e+e- collision. Hence, researchers in the Theoretical Physics Group at Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMP) try to investigate it in other channels, and explore the possibility of the charmed baryon Λc(2940) via the proton-antiproton collision in the PANDA detector at FAIR.

With the effectiveLagrangian method, the researchers have predicted that 104~108 events of Λc(2940) per day can be produced in PANDA under the designed luminosity of PANDA about L=2*1032cm-2/s and assuming 50% overall efficiency. In Fig.1, two explicit decay channels  (left) and  (right) at =5.35 GeV are presented. If the two channels are simultaneously considered, the signals of Λc(2940) can be observed with any spin-parity assignment. The results may provide valuable information for accurate determination of the Λc(2940) identity in PANDA detector.

The results have been published in Physics Review D 84, 114010 (2011).
